Great Dog Portraits!

I Am Puppy, Hear Me Yap: The Ages of Dog, by Valerie Shaff and Roy Blount Jr.

With this well-crafted followup to their fabulous If You Only Knew How Much I Smell You: True Portraits of Dogs, Shaff and Blount have struck dog lovers' gold a second time around. I Am Puppy, as the title suggests, is heavy on the puppy portraits, but every dog has his day in this book. Shaff's evocative black-and-white photographs mesh so perfectly with Blount's poetry (doggerel?) that it seems they must be reading doggie minds. This is one to read again and again.
